For India-only: MSG91 or Textlocal are usually cheaper (₹0.15–₹0.25/SMS vs Twilio's ₹0.50–₹0.70). Both handle DLT registration better. For international reach: Twilio is the standard. For mixed: use Twilio as fallback, MSG91 as primary for Indian numbers.
What is DLT and do I need it?
DLT = Distributed Ledger Technology — a TRAI mandate requiring all business SMS senders in India to register their sender ID, templates, and purpose. Unregistered SMS to Indian numbers is blocked. I handle DLT registration as part of the integration (₹2,500 TRAI fee separate).
How much does Twilio integration cost?
